A Week in the Life of Livfully "meeting" Queen Victoria of yesteryear, meeting old friends and new

on Thu, 09/17/2015 - 19:52

In the last week, I've met folks from Japan (twin boys and their little sis and parents, grands, and family) at an agricultural fair where we all oohed and awed over cows that go, "Moo" in English but apparently go, "Moe" in Japanese. Ohsi means cow while Oosi means delicious (from memory and my own spelling, but may intrigue others to learn a word or two in another language.

Instead of saying 'Holy Cow' we can now say "Holy Ohsi" but google in case that actually means "holy delicious". Hay bales were climbed over by little folks and frying pans, yes cast iron ones, were flung in a contest.

Where Were You on September 11th, 2001? (Fourteen years ago)

When answering a FB question, this is what I put..I've reflected on this more than most since I have the time and inclination to do so. Also in Canaan CT there is a huge flag hung from a crane with volunteers reading the names of all those who transitioned that day from their earthly mortal journey. I met a nice priest there who has since died so I think of him as well. When I have time, I'll add more, but for now, think of where you were that day and how your life was going. Were there troubles you were not aware of in your circles of family, friends and community?

I'm adding a great new FREE DAY of TALKS by Humanity's Team on October 24th, 2015. Go to their website and sign up (you can usually listen for 48 hours after each talk.) Share a summary here or some inspired ideas if you get to listen, making this post team effort. What a nice way to keep the momentum going from the Pope's visit to our United States of A-Miracle!

We need to live and learn (vote and work, talk and walk in our lives) in ways to make that kind of country a reality, starting with caring for Ourselves and Others in a Balanced Way!

Reading the Litchfield County Times in CT (at the cozy Sharon Hotchkiss Library which has an art opening on Sept 12th from 4-7pm), I learned of some exciting happenings and thought Just Once, I'll try to share them in case someone can catch wind of them and make good use of the resource now or in future times (sometimes an idea or dream seed needs to be planted, watered with other feelings and folks chiming in and even investing some money, rides, childcare, or clothes to make it to the date on hand).

First up was an online cool idea from the ever-hopeful and visionary Ralph Nader (who grew

After school programs during the week (and some on weekends) are becoming a new way to offer students support in learning and exploring subjects and skills outside of the classroom. In the rural towns, money and transportation can prove common road blocks. Not so with SOAR in Salisbury CT (and Aha! in Canaan as well as offerings from HYS--Housatonic Youth Services) as well as The Taconic Learning Foundation in the Canaan area at Geer Village (which also hosts nice events along with Noble Horizons in Salisbury CT).

Small towns need many talented people to function not only to educate the next
