The Brooklyn Unitarian Church in New York, US of A-Miracle (or so we can pray), held a raffle which gave a prize of picking a sermon topic. The winner asked that the sermon be on Charitable Giving (and was in early May 2016 and is online, which would be a great way to spend ten minutes before reading or after this post.)

Would you save  a drowning child is one question raised and explored not only in the talk but in a book referenced which looks at the risks and benefits fo giving.

Ed Trickett and a number of other folk singers (some from Folk-Legacy Records which now has its music on youtube such as  Ed Trickett's Gently Down the Stream of Time) sang at our teen son Kaelan's memorial service (July 2009. about a month after his passing from trying to rescue a friend from a fast river. His friend was saved by a rope rescuer moments  after Kaelan passed awa in the water.

 When I started this blog it was birthday time for me...and do it is again, May 14th, 2016 (or with my new system of coding 2(for female)-1963-05-14 and in terms of a Birth mother of one male and three females, my code is 1-(for category of males whichis listed first)1(number of sons)then a comma and,2-(for category of females which is listed second) 3(for number of daughters). That can be listed with my gender as follows 2/1-1,2-3, If I wanted to include my birthyear (and month and day all in that order) with number of children I bore, that would be 2/1963-05-14/1-1,2-3.

I'll see if I can get the exact quote by Pope Francis, but here's my response...

This was a point Kaelan, our teen son who passed on 2009--see other post titles, when about 8 was concerned about, calculating that billions would go to a fiery end if not knowing Jesus,sounded too punitive and didn't make sense.I offered that IF the only way to a reincarnation or not ending up in said fiery place,Jesus was like a lifeguard pulling people out of dangerous waters (I mistyped tat as eaters and really people do consume each other's energies...another post and sorry for how taxing spoken IR written

While I missed a lecture at St. Joseph's College in Brooklyn for free byMichelle Bernard from The Bernard Center, I heard it was  really good, so wanted to encourage US All to look into her website. Post a comment here if you like about what you learn, or I will circle back with more details.

St. Joseph's has some great affordable summer course offerings for high school juniors and seniors, as may many higher education schools or even high schools and other venues.
