A Plug for Democracy at Work New York! Plus Program offerings at The Commons in Brooklyn NY!

on Sun, 09/18/2016 - 18:05

Here is a public service announcement: Democracyatwork.nyc has info about its programs so check it out and get inspired which I am doing. I picked up a flyer at The Commons at 388 Atlantic Ave in Brooklyn NY (near Hoyt and Bond St.)

Find out some basics about the amazing few-story building with a cafe and open space room as well as rooftop garden and other features (and locale of radio station) on their website. Permaculture NY meets there on the 3rd Friday of the month with additional offerings such as Permaculture Basics (starting soon for about $1100) and other workshops as well.

Let’s put Hillary on Capitol Hill!

Hello from CT and NYC from a blogger and Mompreneur (A Mom whose always learning and doing a little outreach too). I am thinking of reaching people across the country Before the Presidential Election to help Hillary and other Democrats get elected, since CT State Representative Elizabeth Esty shared the critical need to do so at a lovely get-together in scenic Salisbury CT in early September 2016.

My free blog www.livfully.org has been plugging along with sharing of both challenges like losing our teen son Kaelan Paton (‘93-’09)in a river episode and

Happy Hunt Library Founder's Day, that would be the Hunt Sisters, in Falls Village CT on September 17th, 2016

on Sat, 09/17/2016 - 15:11

Congratulations to the folks working to keep the doors open and programs runnign at all civic and faith organizations, particularly at schools, daycares and libraries (or lion-braries as I like to playfully call them especially to get kids excited to go hunt for which books and people are "lyin' around" in a library.

There could be friendly Leo and Leila Lions greeting folks on online visitor pages, with journals to capture ideas and addresses (mainly towns and even just first names unless there is a more secure way to make a data base such as file cards dropped into a box.) More on this

Checklist for a Great School Year, Autumn and Getting Stuff Done (even Voting Nov. 8th, 2016 now that I think of it)

on Sat, 09/17/2016 - 01:53

With the start of another school year and autumn, hope everyone is practicing good self-care and looking out for others. Even walking around one's car is now taught to youth and new drivers before getting in one's car.The idea is to check that the tires and car are safe, no obstacles (or pets) nearby. Also important to not be distracted when driving...so please no texting, talking on cell phones and so on.

Too often the momentary distraction can prove injurious or worse whentravelling at fast speeds.

Northwest Corner of CT will have help from BTF and HYS to fund Drug Prevention and Recovery Outreach

on Thu, 09/15/2016 - 15:27

Good news for a small but mighty pocket of the world in the NW area of CT. The Berkshire Taconic Foundation and Housatonic Youth Services are helping address the drug issues that have loomed too large in that small area. Any loss or struggle with drugs is not easy but a growing problem gets people's attention. Thankfully, Brian Ohler and others have figured out places to meet, ways to hold forums (some of which were recorded and might be on www.catv6.com). So kudos to all who cared and were able to help move forward in these imporant ways.
