Resolution 72

Congratulations to the hard-won effort of becoming CT State Troopers to the 25 New Graduates from the Academy in Meriden Ct, August 2018

on Thu, 08/02/2018 - 23:44

Thanks to CT  Rep. Brian Ohler for posting on the Northwest Corner Chatter about attending the graduation ceremony at the CT Police Academy recently. The bravery and skill required to do this most challenging job which requires an array of skills and endurance for sitting behind the wheel, driving and sometimes chasing people down in a car or on foot calls to heroes in the making, Ideally each trooper has a good circle of support and can be encouraged to develop that over time to meet whatever stress comes up.

Hello Everyone as Memorial Day arrives...I just came from a nice event at the Audubon with a hundred or more folks seeing an owl released after a nice reception under the tent (catered by Freund's and with wine donated by a Kent store..5th yr in a row, but I don't drink...maybe eat a bit more than I should.) It was nice to be back on the property and consider the many good years there...the new director is nice and very skilled many say, Elizabeth Fielding, PhD.

She gave a brief talk about the importance of caring for the natural habitats of migratory birds up and down the Eastern Coast

Before the final moments of Mother's Day go by I wanted to cheer us all on in our mothering and othering efforts, including doing some good self care and appreciation. I put a lot in the title so I can keep this short. I've actually been running a bit short on sleep and doing extra care-giving so that's part of why I won't wax poetic into the midnight hours about all things Motherhood, from women to others who nurture people, pets, critters, plants and pacha mama (Mother Earth.)

See a book by Laurie Lisle (yes a nice local person I am fortunate to know) who wrote about not being a mother

While we have many things to tend to when it comes to rearing The Next Generation as a Society from maternal health and infant and child care whether at home or in care centers, schools, and faith groups and wider parts of a community (libraries, parks and recreation programs and all things basic to making a good home), The Courts Rule and too many protective mothers and children play the fool to corrupt or inept judges, attorneys, guardians ad litems (kind of a funny name and abbreviated as ...wait for it...GALs!) and mental health professionals and child protective services and family
