Depressing But Important News in Domestic Violence Report 2019

on Fri, 06/21/2019 - 23:27

This link shares a free article that describes barriers for survivors of DV (Domestic Violence) to voting. https://www.americanprogress.org/issues/democracy/reports/2018/11/01/460...

I get a newsletter online from Domestic Violence Report. They have a summary of important papers which would cost to read with a subscriptions. Ideally every state would have access to the news in the DV Report or a publication that summarizes them. One summary reads that after 40 years of decline, DV homicides are on the rise again, perhaps linked to the proliferation of guns.

Here is a post I put on the Falls Village Forum FB page. That's in Ct and also called Town of Canaan...not North Canaan but that's another story.

Thank you to all who helped with the difficult turn of events ten years ago on June 16, 2009..when teens were in trouble at the base of the Falls.

As sad as the loss of our heroic teen son Kaelan Palmer Paton's life was, thankfully no other lives were lost and his three friends were all rescued. His Memorial Service is on youtube in short segments (as will his late grandmother folksinger Caroline Paton's be after her passing this March 2019.)

Sharing more timely insights about important advocacy for people throughout life and more

on Thu, 06/20/2019 - 21:02

Wishing everyone a happy summer and Make Music 2019 Day on June 21st.

By the way, I have a new program from Suzanne O'Brien about "peace of mind' about end of life planning' that may be very helpful. I think we can help many people by addressing many points she offers in her intro talk (or the whole program) which is discounted for those hearing the talk for 72 hours.... I have taken other programs with her for End Of LIfe Doula training and encourage more people to learn early and often about 'all sorts of things' that are important to know long before you need them.

There really should

In the last few days I have been fortunate to tune into some amazing youtube talks and some practical coaching tips. One new favorite with short videos acted out then added insights are from jayshetty.me Hope you can catch a few and let the care sink in. He was a former monk I just learned.

That makes more sense since he seems sincere in his advocacy (and Maybe he is making money doing that but I think that's okay too...as long as the message stands to basic tests of good sense and integrity (and compassion.)
Please realize much of what anyone does or thinks may come from their first few years
