Learn more about resources for all domestic violence agencies and advocates (even community based learning opportunities...) from DomesticShelters.org (free resources and trainings online to grow the wisdom and network to be better prepared to help oneself and others appropriately, as is safe and with other supports.) Somehow I found this site and feel it's a game-changer for many...especially giving a beacon of hope to many in rural areas or places they cannot find info or help easily!

Such a difficult set of events to consider, that went on for months and even years. Where is one to begin to try to make any sense of what happened?
 How important for every parent to want to have many 'back up systems' to monitor their children's lives for safety and appropriate people in every part of their lives. Also best to not have youths babysit at homes without their own support system in place (ideally going with the youth or even young adult since too many times 'boundaries are broken.'

This Sat., Nov. 5 Debra Cowan be participating in a memorial concert celebrating Juel Ulven, who was the mover and shaker for the Fox Valley Folklore Society.

Deb considered Juel a dear friend and he was passionate about all kinds of folk music. As Deb's dear friend, Andrew Cohen (who will also be performing) said,

"He [Juel] was all about time depth, and at the same time, continuity. Thanks to him, a lot of old stuff got a few good licks in."

I love to hear suggestions for handling info with banks and other sensitive info. Asking one's cell phone (Siri etc) to 'set a reminder' about when to cancel something. While most renewals will send a notice a month or more in advance, if one has a lot of email, that can be easy to miss. Meanwhile if able to write such things on a calendar one really looks at or puts the info on a piece of strong paper taped securely to a wall for notices, that might help. Telling a more organized friend or family member about such dates is also a good back up (hired or not.)
