Times Square is always on. According to ConEdison, this 6-block area of Manhattan requires 161
megawatts of electricity to power it at any given time.
This is enough energy to power...
● 160,000 homes in the United States
● The entire country of Turks and Caicos
● The energy needs of Sierra Leone - x3
The Extinction Rebellion folks sought to have the lights turned off for 24 hours in Times Square on the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day and to Show compassion toward all with what's going on in the world today..I'll have to see how that played out.
