For Blood Pressure Health, Check Your SWEAT--Stress, Worry, Eating, Activity, Talking Levels

Some of these acronyms pop up in my mind before I'm awake. I'm lucky if I can get my brain to shift into gear and catch the idea as though a fish on a line and reel it in. Then if I can Remember it a few minutes or more later when I am up and running so much the better.

For every idea I remember a dozen or so get on by the ol' memory bank. I actually met a professor at a NY University who was researching how the brain remembers things using mathematical algorhythms.

Cool as that was to hear, I didn't think I'd take time to make note of it, but wha-la, he got a little billing here.

The lady who gave me a kiss on the cheek after we'd talked for an hour on and off (Yes, I did most of the yammerin'..and Double Yes, I shared about Remembering Kaelan post and much more, so she was showing me her sympathy and sincere invite to keep in touch as a new friend. She is Brazilian but lives an hour from me, so that's a possibility.

She was moved by Kaelan's courage and yet saddened as we all are by his sudden passing at age 16 almost nine years ago on June 16, 2009 ( a day for making Voluntary Self Care and Caregiving PLANS and Following them...oh yeah, that is maybe assumed and needs clarification if not some built in recommended voluntary 'fines and consequences' for community service even over the course of a decade when one comes round to thinking it all through.)

Our teen Kaelan A. Palmer Paton passed when trying to rescue friends from dangerous water. As we were saying our goodbyes, I asked her if she had any children. She said no, but she had a lot of nieces and nephews in Brazil..and she went to visit them for a few months each year. So that was an interesting thing to consider...those of us who have had children who have journeyed on ahead of us, and those of us who have not had children.

I still have three  grown daughters.  I also have many nieces and nephews  and many of his friends, including those he helped that day long ago, as a rich loving legacy to  keep his 'place in our hearts, minds and lives' alive and well. Some say 'too much so' but  I feel I've reached a nice balance  with some years and times more focused on that situation and his spirit and other times being more about the current time and basics of life. With a Facebook page in his memory I feel there's a place to share things I do with him in  mind, both helping causes and doing things that make me think of him and help celebrate things he enjoyed.

My new friend on the Wassaic train line and many others are struck by the fact that 'he was my only son.' I often add he was my 'much wanted second child...after three miscarriages (not too far along, but still difficult losses, emotionally and physically.) Well, this post was starting out about Blood Pressure. and I hope to write more soon, but the basic idea of the factors that can cause higher than healthy blood pressure should be well known inspired the idea of publicizing the factors in a simple way. Stress, Worry...Exercise and Eating, Actitity and Talking

. I learned some of that from a respiratory therapist, Tom Fleming, and hoped to take his class in Great Barrington MA on the Buteyko Method of breathing. That is about breathing slowly through the nose, both in and out breaths. That helps keep the blood less stickly, less affected by CO-2. I am a talker, and used to be a Super Talker. While all that thinking was trying to figure a lot of stuff, the extra hours likely hurt my BP. I need to go now, but hope that's helpful...
