Happy To Share Good Ideas As Spring Arrives 2018

on Mon, 03/26/2018 - 01:19

Let's start with cool events I've heard of happening in the MA/NY CT tri-corner area. Check out Omega and Kripalu for an array of interesting healer-feeler type workshops including West Coast Internet sensation...Jenn McLean. She's just good people from what I can tell and very talented in some key skills like Talking With People, and helping them explore their inner experience along with some coaching to allow, witness and counsel oneself in a flexible way. Her book Spontaneous Transformation is one I hope to take more time to walk through but I heard her speak of that process (ST) a few times over in the past year or two.

I wanted to see if she'd Ever come East..and she did back in November 2017, to Kripalu..and now Guess where she'll be This May 2018? You are correct if you said Omega in Rhinebeick NY, not far from Vassar in Poughkeepsie where I got to enjoy 1981-1986 (with two semesters off when that wasn't Such a Big Deal and didn't impact my scholarships  and loans, basically I realized it would 'buy me time to enjoy life' before having to make regular payments monthly or at least the interest which I did for a spell or two in there, but I did pay them back..and it was about the cost of the tuition for a year for the four years I attended...so about 10K I think.) College today is much pricier so graduates or students wtih under 30K likely feel they are getting a deal..and those with 50K or more, well, they Need a Great Job and likely others pitching in on those payments. More than one savvy parent has told me they wish they'd been even savvier by having their student go to a more affordable college.

But back to other nice events--keep an eye out fot those school plays or other community theatre productions. I loved seeing the youth in our small towns perform at Housatonic Valley Regional High School... The King and I by the Housatonic Musical Theatre Society and more recently Willy Wonka by the Falls Village Children's Theater.I wanted to appreciate the timely insights The King and I provided in terms of a leader who felt the world revolved around Him yet who allowed that the modern world had merits too so allowed change. Might President Donald Trump be willing to do so? Does he know the play?

The other helpful aspects to consider about the women and children in the play were well explored as modern concerns such as human slavery, domesttic abuse, relationship agreements and legalities. The King, as many rulers and men of many countries, was allowed to have more than one wife. Whether two or more wives (and for the King that number was resulting in 70 children and counting...) the question arises, how many partners does is seem 'reasonable' for a man or a woman to keep track of, be allowed legally to make agreements with and have children with, as well as much more. There are ongoing discussions online about such matters but last I checked, we're only human and really do need to learn a few things about budgeting and keeping track of living and caring for ourselves and others in basic ways. Yet we don't have many creative options for having such accessible forums and discussions. Maybe there could be a play about doing the exploring of such topics...

Meanwhile spring is here and now around the world, many religious holidays, so let's take time to appreciate the history and impact of those discussions and gatherings. Maybe visit a few if one hasn't done so or wants a current experience to reflect on..and maybe new insights to tune into as well. Peace and light to one and all...

Who would like to enjoy books and community? Just about Everybody, Right? You are in luck if you are near Winsted CT since there's a Community Bookstore there, right next to another endeavor Ralph Nader also helped launch, The Tort Museum..also a Not to Miss.

The Biggest Wonder in WIN-sted is The American Mural Project which merits its own google search. See the offerings on these various sites and on other sites such as ruralintelligence.com and nwarts.com.

With the UCONN Torrington branch closing in recent years, NWCC,  Northwest Community College in Winsted is picking up the slack. There are also programs through the Foothills Adult Education at many high schools in the northwest corner of CT. See who in your community may be interested and in need of a scholarship or a ride or other encouragement (even a study buddy.)

When people help one another with the basics its easier to see more dreams come true and networks grow, In the Great Barrington MA area there's Toastmasters on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month at the BCC (Berkshire Community College whose main campus is in Pittsfield MA) branch on Main St.

The colleges often offer a lot of mini programs for fun and plenty for credit as well even online. Now back to thinking out loud.. check out Crystal Essense, Sruti and many in the GB area for inspiration. Replicate in small ways or with online groups (FB or group calls, webinars and more) as you can.

See Patty Lennon and others for coaching in that realm, some talks are free. Now back to Spring Cleaning and Spring Dreaming! Maybe see you at a Maker Things Faire (such as at Hotchkiss School in Lakeville Ct in early April) or at a Taconic Learning class at Geer or Noble in northwestern CT...or at a Garden Club meeting as in Sharon Garden Club in CT or one in another state.

Running a club can be a key way to help more people connect, so look into the basics with coaching from Berkshire Taconic Foundation in Sheffield MA for your area to benefit as well!
