Offering Condolences to Those Facing a Loss or Challenging Time with their pet or even people in their lives...

on Sun, 07/07/2019 - 17:07
Have you heard of how hard it is to have a pet go missing? A community can put up alerts on Facebook and in small towns that can be a quick solution. People in the immediate area will go looking and others will keep an eye out. There are 'animal control officers' who can help facilitate other networks and basically everyone can be supportive and follow a situation along.

Usually in a few days to a week, a dog will be found or return on its own. What a sigh of relief and time of celebration for the owners and friends...and the wider circles on social media.

While there are many amazing events happening in plenty parts of Brooklyn and the other boroughts of NYC, why not check out something that's 'at the top of cool and authentically amazing' at the International African Arts Festival at  Commodore Barry Park at 1 Park Ave (Flushing and Navy) in Brooklyn NY.

The donation asked is $5 and there are many vendors for food, colorful dress and much more to enjoy, so bring a wad of cash and a credit card to support 'shopping from real people.' For info on vending and housing call 718-638-6700 or connect with them on FB at International African Arts

Don't Delay Getting Out of the Way of Storms (good idea shared on Northwest Corner Chatter for summer storms), and to Know Your Zone if You'd have to Evacuate (in NYC or other areas)

Hope everyone fared well through the storm... In BK there's a large 48th annual International African Arts Festival that saw some heavy rain, then cleared quickly..still some lightning at times (heat lightning...but that likely still is a concern).

Overall, it's a worthwhile event to know about and even moreso to attend to appreciate the people who have ancestral and cultural ties to Africa and the many places connected to that fine country.

Taking Time this July to Reflect on the Legacy and Community Lessons of Many Important People (All of US)

on Sat, 07/06/2019 - 04:08

There are many important moments in July given our American 'Birthday' on the Fourth of our country. Along with the festivities we are honoring always those who did the initial freedom fighting as well as their mothers and fathers who gave them live, their communities and schools who nurtured and educated them and many more aspects of our society that 'keep everyone supported', there's still more to do.

This July 2019 is about hearing important ideas for the next leg of leadership in our country and in the race against climate change.

Taking Time to Step Back and Reflect before Moving Onto the Fourth of July 2019, but yes it's a special even critical time for our modern world.

Head on over to the public FB page, The Northwest Corner Chatter to see a patriotic post by Brian Ohler who took time to reflect on the meaning of July 4th, 2019, the birth of America. Marianne Williamson will be speaking online at 5PM from New Hampshire so I encourage you to see that insightful set of ideas that I am sure will be followed by many liking, posting on FB and tweeting amidst the fireworks which many are having tonight and throughout the next few days.
