What I Wrote Before Brett Kavanaugh Was Confirmed..When there was Hope!

on Mon, 10/15/2018 - 03:14
The timing of the country being focused on the Brett Kavanaugh nomination to the Supreme Court is creating a national conversation about experiences of many victims that were not disclosed or did not have a meaningful impact if they were.

We have yet to see what the outcome will be yet we are all tuning in to these matters that used to seem 'personal or otherwise not meaningful to more than the victims, even if many felt their lives were impacted in horrendous ways.'

Time for some Good News, but again not the final vote: The US Congress House of Representatives passed Resolution 72

When a father or male figure is abusing a family, that person needs to be held accountable. Too often victims are confused or afraid to get the needed help and moreover 'helping systems' too often add to that confusion or even blame the mother for not doing enough.

This could really be a game-changer. Let's hope every state can look into this as well as promote House Resolution 72 which would prioritize children's safety and give custody of children to alleged victims of domestic abuse.

on Fri, 10/12/2018 - 17:25
While thinking through the pros and cons of bathroom passes for kids at the high school level to use, I explored other concerns about monitoring youth..not only during the school day, but before and after...to help them stay in the game of Life!

The bigger concern for me and I'd hope for most parents after our son Kaelan's passing in 2009 during the days when schedules change (test days, half days etc) is that All Parents Monitor their kids for getting to and from the school safely. Not allowing bike rides to the school or even walking away to someone's house nearby.
