My 51st birthday unfolded in lovely ways, first with a friend answering and chatting the morning away while I worked in my Turtle Garden (see post on that).  I also tidied and nibbled then did more work outdoors. I got FB posts and calls from family. Then I got to enjoy the simple yet inspiring agricultural fair at the local high school. Baby animals--black and white sheep, goats, and chickens, dogs and horses, a cow and grown sheep too enlivened the back lot.

Everybuddy knows the tune to Happy Birthday, so put the words Happy Mother's Day in there and celebrate that you have a woman who cared for you from your beginning to your more independent time of life, and maybe you're still feeling her guidance and care as an adult or even if she has journeyed on to the realm of the angels. My mother Mary Palmer Sr would have been 91, having had me when she was 40 years young.

This week of April 20th through the 26th, started with more excitement and reverence than usual. The blend of holidays with the tragedy of the South Korean ferry sinking made for a climate of  'every step counts', every decision, individually and collectively. The Climate Change Rally in DC on April 26th, 2014 will once again make a plea to President Obama to fight the Pipeline.
