Exuberant Thanks and Sharing A Request for Funds to Non-Profits such as...Falls Village Community Dev. Corp. for Matching Funds by 12/31/22
A mailing went out to many to ask for donations to Falls Village Community Development Corporation that will be matched up to a total of $25K if made by the end of 2022!!
What a wonderful opportunity and 'ask' that hopefully people can contribute to with friends and businesses to make the most of the offer! Just click on fallsvillagecdc.org and the "Donate" Tab. Thanks in advance for sharing and yes, I donated $21 (20 plus .91 to cover the paypal but you can also use a credit card.)
I am just sharing as an individual, not directly associated with the group or any other local business or non-profit mentioned but sharing as a public service here for no recompense nor as a formal or paid affiliate.
I do live in the community and encourage everyone to find ways to help people afford to live in the area and be aware of the various needs of people at each stage of life.
See more information on www.fallsvillagecdc.org and many thanks to all who have donated and discussed options so far.
There is a development being considered about a mile from Route 7 near the regional high school serving grades 9-12 with many award-winning programs such as Vocational Agriculture and Robotics and many AP programs, travel and sports programs, music, theatre and more!
Many non-profits and other recipients of gifts and donations get the majority of their funds in the final days of the year. Some have matching gifts which is a great motivator. In my small town of Falls Village CT (in the northwest corner along where the regional high school is located which serves the towns of Falls Village, North Canaan and Cornwall, Salisbury, Sharon and Kent.)
The Falls Village Fire Dept and Ambulance is right around the corner from the high school and is all volunteer, as are most of the other towns. Some have paid staff for medical responders and not all medical emergencies can be addressed by the local crews alone.
The Sharon Hospital serves the area from CT as well as many from NY. Many people from New York City have second homes here and help keep the property taxes and economy strong while local folks may be struggling to afford to live in the area where they grew up, want to work or rear a family or help others even as caregivers or in other needed jobs.
Among all of these efforts concerns for housing in every town have been addressed on some level and with extra guidance from Housing Us via The Berkshire-Taconic Foundation that serves the tri-corner area. These are the kinds of initiatives that make a community stronger even as there may be differences of opinion (some of which I explore in earlier posts of this blog Livfully.org regarding housing initiatives. Those are also covered in The Lakeville Journal or on TricornerNews.com
Another effort is The Falls Village Housing Trust which "has a contract to purchase a home in town that has five affordable rental apartments." American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds will go toward the down payment but another $20K is needed to complete that as well as $15K for needed immediate repairs. All year-end donations will be sued to renovate that property. Dontaions may be mailed to Falls Village Housing Trust Inc. PO Box 424, Falls Village CT 06031.
When making donations to public libraries, schools, daycares, private schools, faith groups or other sectors of a community, trust that the efforts due ripple out and inspire and help many more than imagined.
Thanks to all being in a generous spirit and checking with other trusted people in one's circle to have a reasonable spending plan and budget to manage one's funds and create flow even by sharing information and doing 'small acts of kindness', being team players and helping one and many join in the efforts and offerings through sharing information and enjoying programs in person or online. It all adds up and puts smiles on many a face and helps create a happier, healthier place for more good things to happen and grow in these meaningful times!
