Great Reflections Sometimes Disappear on a FB Post, so trying to recapture those
Inspired by the photos by Lazlo Gyorsok of West Cornwall CT on FB, I often share those to inspire others with the beauty of nature in our tri-corner MA/NY CT area. On the Northwest Corner Chatter FB page there was a nice picture of the Covered Bridge and that's on his FB page as well I've discovered along with much of his work thankfully..
That said, I got reflecting about the powerful connection our family has had with the Housatonic River that runs from MA to CT into Long Island Sound in Westport CT, another area I lived near when I was at Roger Ludlowe High School in Fairfield. Now I am going to recoup some of the points I was making since I has heard the news in Channel 3 with Gayle King (Oprah's bestie who I got to hear give a talk at one of the early NW Chamber of Commerce WOW! Events that was for Women of the World and is about women being supportive of one another especially in business ventures but in life as well!
The announcement of 500K deaths in the US from COVID got me thinking of paying tribute to those who have suffered those losses. I had a verse from a song I wrote for our late teen son Kealan Alexander Palmer Paton come to mind, who happened to die in a tragic turn of events trying to rescue a third friend from peril at the base of the falls in Falls Village and Salisbury CT. Those are my hometowns and I reared our kids here to keep them as safe and have support from family and the small friendly local towns.
That really worked out well in many ways and factored into all of our kids being team players and leaders in their schools whether in the arts or advocacy for a cleaner climate and sense of fair play. That said, the tie between COVID and the Cov'd Bridge is one that can be helpful... as is watching our Kaelan Paton's Memorial Service on youtube from the summer of 2009. Here is the verse from the song (and the post I wrote was lost somewhere when I was trying to put it on my FB page since the NW Corner Chatter page has turned off comments and has banned me for a month from sharing, maybe I put a site on that they didn't like or who knows what..
.There is a Northwest Corner Chatter Free speech page so I shared there but the remembered, just put it here and I will be putting my posts from the last few months on my other blogs as well, livfully.org/wordpressblog and on one medium.livfully.com too where I have another post about a fellow who died from an slipping on a rock and tumbling into the water. That was a strange terrible turn of events and a reminded one can experience a passing very unexpectedly.
Also trying to 'watch the edge of danger' in terms of being a hundred feet or so away from water or high places and avoiding dangerous scenarios makes sense. Getting traniing and teams looking out for one another and knowing how to address emergencies is key too as it was in helping save the youths that our son saved. A rope rescuer from the area who is a volunteer and someone we went to high school with speaks to what happened in the memorial service and also was recorded in The Lakeville Journal of CT and the Republican American of CT. I came across some of the newspaper articles and even letters I have written promoting safety and teamwork at all ages and stages of life and related to health and supervising people.
So this is a good reminded to get everyone to 'chime in'. With the loss of Elijah McClain making headlines that is all the more reason to clarify education for all parts of society to allow people to be in public and interact with care and not escalate situations.A tribute to all those who have passed in unjust ways and accidents that can wake US All up to prevent harm and be grateful for the days we have in peace and harmony particularly...Here's the verse--
"Life is a bridge we gently cross. As we go over it, we all feel loss. Yet the gift of love is ours to give, in how in die and how we live!"--Catherine Palmer Paton
