Catherine Palmer Paton In Front of the Capitol Building In Hartford CT, May 16, 2009 photo

This photo is one I've had up since the inception of this page....It was taken at the CT Capitol in Hartford. I had just had a birthday a couple days prior...and had gotten a hug from our teen son Kaelan Palmer Paton who I wasn't able to see for a few years (a very unfortunate set of events that sadly occur far too often not only for no good reason but actually for 'warning sign bad' reasons..

That's another set of topics I cover in part on Livfully.org.) So consider if you possibly can, being separated from one or more of your kids for a few years then having one of them pass away suddenly.

That happened on June 16th, 2009 when Kaelan, then 16 years and 5 months of age, lost his mortal life in a strange (but again sadly indicative of dangerous mistakes I had advocated to avoid with agreements with other adults that were summarily disregarded with others not advocating as they could have even though they did to some degree.)

Likely 20 different people could have prevented that particular 'planned and approved outing' that I thought I had figured out with other adults to not allow (swimming or boating in a river without adult supervision, as in two competent adults..sounds reasonable doesn't it?)
Well a batch of minors went on the adventure of a lifetime...only a mile from their school and in a quiet town (with a crazy big river and even crazier falls...)

That's an round-about way of offering you a sense of a rare but important way 'all hell can break loose' when you least expect it (as school schedules change, bunches of kids--even in small groups or alone-- are out and about with no accountability, clear written agreements for adults and minors to understand about their area as recommendations from 'those in charge and at large to have common safety and supervision as central with parental permission (from both parents )as well as from school or other recreational leaders offering guidelines to follow voluntarily (but Seriously to avoid law suits, injury or fatality.)

That's the basic Formula for Today's Society...and would prevent endless amounts of danger and difficulty (and even domestic abuse or other ways that youth are separated from their protective parent or caregiver.)

Now policies are being put in place that may end a parent's rights if they are jailed, so even those warnings need to be given to all in a state and village to be aware of how the system may be 'required' to intervene. Safe & Together Institute has online resources to promote in one's area and state. Other pro-active stances could be spelled out for all victims, minors, and even abusers to take note of these modern values for fairness, safety and accountability.

Thanks for Trying and Making a Safe Way through each day... It's all part of the learning journey, including forgiving to heal and help guide our systems and others toward the path of peace and fairness...(at least legally and ideally ethically) but realizing there are no laws written in stone in modern times..that the societal laws of one's country and state in the US are not informed by religious edicts as much as a business mindset...

Lots more to consider which I do on my blog Livfully.org and Good Luck to one and all to finding a safe path for oneself and others in their care, especially their offspring or relatives, elders or the infirmed or dependent on help fro basic ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) and more.
