Helpful update of Sharon Hospital in CT on the NY line (and about a half hour from the MA border as well) to skim through... some highlights include Sharon Hospital will be in network with some other hospitals in the Hudson Valley NY Area, the number of maternity needs are fairly low, about 3-4 times less than a few years ago, but will be met still by skilled people (nice to know on both accounts...)

And that the drug overdoses are not as common showing up in ERs and with ambulance calls. Possibly that is due to the availability and use of narcan. Likely it would be good for more to be versed in that helpful, life-saving medicine...

The monies left to the Community Foundation from the sale of the hospital a while back were about $3M, with another $6M earmarked for improvements.

One fellow expressed concern there was not enough thorough communication with the community by the board of the Community Fdtn. People from the Fdtn shared they were seeking to improve that and would take more input.

A request for more palliative care services was made in light of having a large elderly population. The response was that there were some adequate services in place. Overall the goal for most of the population was to help people be healthier and avoid needing to be in the hospital for long or as often...I heard a similar goal at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington Ma.

They were promoting a balanced integrative health approach to empower people to think of health and wellness goals pro-actively and in social settings not just focus on numbers and meds, etc. Here's to Your Health and that of Your Community (and Beyond!)
