Greetings Everyone,
We have good news!!!

With the recent notice from the state of Connecticut DECD (Department of Economic and Community Development), we have come to Phase 2 of the REOPEN CONNECTICUT plan. Libraries are able to open as of June 17th. We've been getting ready and have chosen June 23rd, 2020 as our re-opening day. We will be open our normal business hours on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 10 am to 5pm, Fridays 3-7 pm and Saturdays 10 -1 pm.

There will be noticeable changes when you come to the library, all designed to keep us all safe. Below are the listed requirements that we are following pursuant to the guidelines of the DECD. Keep in mind that this is all new and we know it will be overwhelming at times, in light of that, we will do our best to remain the friendly and caring library you've always known!

Curbside pickup will continue for patrons who want to request their books, audio books and DVDs by email or phone. Access to our catalog is available on our website http://www.huntlibrary.org.

At this time all our in-house programs will be postponed until further notice. Outside events are TBD (to be determined) as we get further along into the summer.

The Friends of David M. Hunt Library will reopen their monthly book sale on Saturday, July from 10-1 pm. The Library's social distancing standards will apply. Private weekday appointments can be made by calling 860-824-7424.

In addition, we encourage you to see the group art exhibition, which was scheduled to open in March. It features over 100 artworks made with original roof tiles from the Hunt's 1891 construction by Lee H. Kellogg students and prominent local artists. The exhibition is also on display at the the new virtual Hunt Art Wall-to-Go gallery at http://huntlibrary.org/Art-Wall.

For our younger audience, children's librarian Rita Delgado will be offering a summer reading program and a handful of events which would take place outside under the tent that will be there all summer. Rita will also continue virtual Story Hour with new stories being aired weekly. All this can be explored further by visiting our children's web page  http://www.huntlibrary.org/forkids

                              DECD Requirements:

- Masks are required to enter the building and must be worn at all times while in the library (exceptions for health reasons only).

- We require you use hand sanitizer when you enter the building, which will be readily available through out the library.

- We will be taking temperatures at the door with a infrared thermometer. If temperature is 100.4 F we will ask you to leave the facility and suggest you call your doctor.

- There will be a contact tracing signup sheet that we require you fill out in the case we are informed that a patron has been infected with Covid-19. If that is the case, we will be able to contact you to let you know.

- Other than staff, there will be a limit to 5 people on each floor at one time in the library.

-  One person per household will be allowed to visit the library. No one under 12 will be permitted. This will most likely change after July 1st, we will then encourage people with young families to make appointments by email or phone for
Tuesdays & Thursdays from 2 - 4 pm for 30 minute intervals.

- There will be visual social distancing markers to encourage patrons to remain 6 ft apart.

- Bathroom accessibility limited to emergency use only.

- Two computers will be available for public use which will be 6 ft apart with a barrier.

As time goes on and situation changes in a positive direction regarding the Covid-19 pandemic, we will ease up on the requirements as the State suggests. Notification of these changes will be sent by email blasts, Facebook, posters and newspapers.

We look forward to seeing you all, we've missed you!!
