Rally to Save A Local Hospital in the MA/NY CT tri-corner Area - Our Voices Will be Heard July 14th at 11am, On or Near the Sharon Green in Sharon CT
I am sharing this from a Public Facebook Post with slight modifications (in the name of protecting more from any possible other legal actions regarding public sharing of information and ideas) about the actual names of the group hosting etc for now... but Drum Roll (maybe drummers could help with an intro or applause..)'THE TIME IS NOW!
A certain new managment company is being called into question by a concerned group of activists regarding its practices at a local hospital in the northwest corner of CT. The activists allege that the new management has taken $3M in community money, broken promises to our towns, and intimidated hospital staff in an effort to shut down the Maternity Ward at an area hospital. They feel this is the tip of the iceberg as they try to leave local residents to drive an hour to Poughkeepsie to obtain life-saving services.
The new management has possibly spread verifiably false stories about our community in an effort to convince regulators and officials that they should not have to provide essential medical access. They tried to obtain a closure of the Maternity Ward over the 4th of July holiday of 2018 and possibly sought to suppress information from leaking so that people would not be able to mount opposition. The result would have left expectant mothers with less than one month to find a different place to give birth.
But concerned citizens did find out and 'won't take this lying down'.
Join the concerned advocates on July 14th at 11 AM on the Sharon Town Green (or closeby as regulations may require..) to hear how we will fight. We will be hearing about the status of our movement, discussing steps that need to be taken, and signing letters and petitions for further action. We will not let new management shut down services in the name of higher operating margins, and we hope that you will join this fight to Save the Hospital (in Sharon CT.) See FB groups for more details.
Please RSVP and share this event - it really helps us to spread this word. Message us if you would like to volunteer from 9 AM to 2 PM"
PS, From Livfully: Applause to everyone sharing their cause in respectful pro-active ways. Daring to care and share takes on new meanings, especially when securing basic services and wanting timely healthcare for emergencies and serious concerns...In areas with winter storms and difficult roads as well as a lack of public transportation travel time is key..Possibly Life Saving. especially where babies and their mamas are concerned!
