Lighting a Candle in CT for The Stumo Family and Other Victims of the Ethiopian Plane Crash
The following is a letter I got online from The American Museum of Tort Law in Winsted CT. This important event will be video recorded, so keep an eye out for that. Check their site for more details.
I pay respect to the Stumo family, particularly her two brothers and the parents Nadia Milleron and Michael Stumo and Samya's great uncle Ralph Nader, and hold the work and memory of Samya Stumo in high regard. May her good efforts continue to inspire generations of good-hearted people to seek help and healing for many in all walks of life as well as for safety for those travelling.
All of the victims of this crash and others particularly due to negligence are frontline warriors for our times. We need to heed the warnings and not take safety and the losses incurred lightly. These are hardwon insights and revelations for what must change.
Even with such heartbreak however, steadfast advocacy and official legal and professional guidelines must be established and followed diligently. The age of excuses and cutting corners is over. We can and will do better. That goes for many personal matters as well which sadly also impact people in profound detrimental ways.
"The American Museum of Tort Law will host an event and reception remembering those who lost their lives in the crash of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 on March 10, 2019. The crash of this Boeing 737 MAX 8 took the lives of 157 people, including Samya Rose Stumo, grandniece of Museum Founder Ralph Nader.
The lives of these victims will be celebrated and mourned at a program from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at the American Museum of Tort Law, 654 Main St., Winsted, CT. The speakers will include Samya’s parents Nadia Milleron and Michael Stumo, who will discuss Samya’s work in global health and their own efforts to bring accountability to Boeing and the FAA for safer airline travel; William J. McGee, noted airline consumer safety advocate and author of Attention All Passengers; and Ralph Nader. The program will be open to the public and the press, and will also be recorded on video.
This program will address the causes of the two horrific disasters in Indonesia and Ethiopia, both involving Boeing’s 737 MAX 8, followed by a declaration presenting the ways that Boeing and its culpable executives must be brought to justice under both the criminal and tort laws of our land. Also addressed: ways that Congress must reform the FAA to restore its role as a regulator, instead of a cozy delegator of its life-saving duties. Senator Richard Blumenthal has been invited to describe the proposed legislation to strengthen and return regulatory authority to the FAA."
Light refreshments will be served.
