Hats Off to the Sharon Playhouse of CT and Cool Event Toasting Maestro Jonathan Tunick And A Bunch of Safety Tips to Getting to Events Going Forward (yes, with proof of vaccination too)

October 2nd, 2021...

Guess who were dressed to the nines and celebrating...Lots of wonderful folks...including Jonthan Tunick and Stephen Sondheim in person...and of course talent that raised the roof at the Newly Named Theatre at the Sharon Playhouse...I'll let them give the Big Reveal. I want to share that it was key to have Proof of Vaccination to attend...and so I missed an hour of the pre-show fun running back to get said proof...Let others learn from that setback...but I didn't miss the show and got to sit up front with some fancy folks. In the future there should be a 'wait list' for people who want to attend in case others cancel last minute (which some did..so sure, I'm happy to be That kind of contact...that's what texting or phone calls can help happen so people get to the shows, even the fancy ones, maybe pitching in if others can't make it or need a ride back and forth For any reason whatsoever...)

Okay also I will say Please Plan Ahead about parking safely and maybe sharing a ride from along the public parking spaces on Main Street or at the Town Hall and carpooling to minimize the number of cars especially at a big event (there or a similar kind of venue even a house party etc...) Then Take Precautions to drive into the Playhouse from Sharon Valley Road rather than try to turn in from the the Clock Tower intersection...the cars tend to get backed up.

There should be a Parking Attendent that is skilled and even a Police Car if not a paid traffic director for the inflow...and a word of wisdom about pacing exiting the theater, ideally going only Right Out of the Parking lot (or if the coast is clear, crossing to the lot to turn around and then proceed West on Route 343 since there's a 'blind corner' and cars come whizzing along at 50mph or more...It's been a Real Concern of Mine for decades observing the 'traffic dynamics and lack of planning and wishful thinking among patrons who are sometimes backed up into the lane due to people directing parking too close to the road...it's something more practical people and voluntary advocates could think through and check with any theatre, event venue, restaurant, school or other party location about to see about making things as safe as possible.

Getting some traffic alerts in place "like "Men Working' "Slow", Traffic Entering/ Blind Curve...signs up and special flashing lights (even on private property if legal and pemissible...) Another concern this time of year are deer that are crossing the road apparently 'without thinking'...Also cars tend to pass for any reason and don't seem to have drivers that have a sense of planning to be someplace by driving the speed limit or below due to more traffic for a show or event, darkness coming on, watching out for kids playing (and yes one chased a ball very close to the road and not too long ago one ran in front of a car near a library on a quiet street back to where his family's car was parked...)

So libraries, schools, faith groups and venues or all kinds (including homes and rail trails etc) could review the Safety Rules about stopping and looking both ways, holding an adult's hand or double checking plans for any play or crossing area with some Safety Guidelines..not chasing cars or buses to race or play around them or not let kids go out to cars to say goodbye or greet people etc in driveways and lots more.

Thanks for letting me share the teachable moments I learn about even late in life but after decades of ushering and helping people with parking and getting about places...

Overall my hope is to help people help others and themselves and enjoy life with ease and a sense of teamwork...and that goes for around one's home too.
