GreenFireWriters.com Anyone? Dreaming is free and seeing their offerings and venturing to put pen to paper or otherwise thoughts in writing...
The only thing more exciting than writing is realizing tons of people are also doing so...and just as cool is that some have figured out ways and times to Help Others Dis-cover Their Craft, their writing voice, their feelings and stories and views.
Okay, so this is all an intro to help you benefit from the efforts on www.greenfirewriters.com based in the Southern Berkshires of MA, near Great Barrington MA. Jennifer Browdy and likely others offer some programs online. So there's another way to work with these talented folks. Likely there are plenty of free programs online and thereabouts. Here's to your first steps in a new project, another chapter or first journal or blog entry. You don't have to publish for the world to see, or for everyone..
There are private groups. For starters as well remember there are hotlines for crisis or support as well, where you can choose to give an alias. Remember when sharing however that there are laws regarding your safety and that of others, particularly children, so don't share things that could incriminate you or another person unless you are fully aware of that.
Some groups claim an honorary confidentiality and so on, but again, the law is the law and many people are mandated reporters and need to report if certain criteria are met. That is something the public should hear far and wide in part to help more people not break the law in the name of thinking they have a Right To Do So to Themselves, Their Kids, Their Pets and Property and Their Elders or Others They Care for. That could include Neglect such as not providing 24-7 supervision to the elderly who have dementia or cannot advocate for themselves, have mobility or other care issues that do not allow them to get out of a house safely if need be, and a host of other 'gray areas'.
In terms of parenting, threats of harm if someone is sexually active or using drugs etc is not legal either, yet many professionals or religious or otherwise strict parents feel that is a reasonable consequence to declare in Their Home to Their Children, minors or otherwise.
What one cannot say to another however, one could allow characters in a story to shout out loud and clear. The characters will not get arrested and maybe the concerns will be conveyed. Likely there are such tales already, But writing out one's fears and concerns can be therapeutic and help one process beliefs and more. See www.option.org for ideas about self-inquiry and their dialogue process such as in their book To Love Is to Be Happy With by Barry Kaufman.
Lots to think about with those 'prompts' and not having all the answers to address concerns, but more discussion likely would shed light on reasonable solutions for all to follow 'from now on.' Okay with that happy journaling and finding ways to create the writing world that can help you and others navigate their options and life journeys with time to reflect and imagine.
