Get Ready to Listen, Learn and Lead the Way for America and the World for Safety for US-All (even women, kids and pets!)
A few local and regional MA/NY CT people made a valiant effort with others across the nation and from
abroad to attend a recent remarkable national conference. The BMCC is now online for leaders and the public to
reframe the epidemic of Coercive Control and Domestic Violence and Abuse.
The 11th Battered Mothers Custody Conference (BMCC) drew experts such as Barry Goldstein, Evan Stark and Wendy Murphy.
Other reformers and advocates included as Rose Garrity who leads the board of the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV) and works with the National Organization for Men Against Sexism (NOMAS which also means "No More" in Spanish). Together the programs addressed the widespread failings of police, mental health and even domestic abuse centers
and courts to warn and safeguard protective parents, generally mothers, and their children.
Parallels were made to the oppression of people and civil rights or anti-war movements (or failings to prevent the rise of Nazism to the extreme killing since some would not allow more immigration (even the US).The historical stuggles and current focus of mistreatment playing out in the media and streets was noted against people of color, of low economic means, of women and children, of various disabilities (which the ADA--Americans with Disabilities Act and Title 19 were intended to protect). All must seek the reform and healing of systems and injustice to improve the rights of all people.
One alarming insight was the 501c3 non-profits need to agree to terms for funds from VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) which preclude protesting about government agencies. Another is that CT has been found to be one of many states which collude to allow highly abusive men (even those molesting their children) to have shared if not sole custody and banning mothers who report the crime from seeing their children or limit them to supervised visits (which should be the condition for the abusers.) Profit from cottage industries around custody and batterer programs, and even Father's Rights agendas, drives much of the ongoing systemic abuse.
Stop the Abuse Campaign is an online guide to clarifying an effective Community Response to keep all people (too often labelled as victims instead of heroic survivors ) safe from control tactics and harm in their
relationships whether from abusive individuals or groups or in the courts.
I urge everyone to take time weekly to learn about ways schools, towns and states can work together using the Safe Child Act and the Quincy Solution to set new laws in place to assure safety and health for many which could save US-All $500 billion a year.
Prevention is the new standard of best practices in both health and safety. Join in the growing life-saving movement around the world to provide best practices in every facet of society to insist on human rights and well-being for all people equally. The basis of the new approach disallows coercion and abuse on personal or systemic levels. Masses of people and new laws and teams to implement these tactics and education at early ages are critical to success of these PLANS (People Living, Learning, Loving and Leaving with Agreements and Networking through Schools, Society and Socializing). f
