CT Post Newspaper Shares Latest Health Insurance Offer for some CT Low Income Folks

on Tue, 08/10/2021 - 00:30
I heard from someone that the CT Post newspaper shared info in mid July 2021 that "Up to 40,000 could qualify for free health coverage in CT."  That was the title of the article.

Individuals as well as households can apply at AccessHealthCT.com or by calling 855-805-4235.  There are also in-person appointments being held at their enrollment centers scattered around the State.  Anthem Bluecross was mentioned as partnering with AccessHealth and the State's "Covered Connecticut program."

This benefit is dependent on your income, so tax returns are necessary, but some of the highlights are:  Who qualifies?
"During the first year of the program (now), households earning more than 160 percent of the federal poverty level (FPL), but not greater than 175 percent, qualify for free coverage.

A family of one at 160 percent of the PPL, earns $20,436 annually, while a family of four earns $41,920.  At  175 percent of the FPL, a family of one earns $22,310, while a family of four earns $45,850."

 Worth checking out.

Coverage includes: "preventative care, coverage for prescription drugs, pregnancy care, and coverage for behavioral and mental health care, among other benefits."

Cost:  NONE.  "The Covered Connecticut program funds the cost of all premiums, deductibles,co-pays, co-insurance and out-of-pocket costs for qualifying residents, making the coverage free."

Why not try calling or checking the website to see what is required for you to be covered?
Signing up before the 15th of the month may allow the insurance to be backdated whereas signing up after the 15th may require one to wait until the 1st of the next month...but I'm not sure and am just passing along info from a friend who read it in the paper...See how a grapevine works?

Funds are coming from the Federal program which covers Medicaid.  Good luck
