At 4am Wed. 11-7-18, I am seeing Representative Maria Horn (CT-Dem) Won, 5776 over 5716 (60 votes folks!) for Brian Ohler (CT-Rep) for the 64th District

Thankfully both candidates really had a groundswell of support. I wish them both the best at they continue to care about the state and the northwest corner in meaningful ways and stay connected with others. Brian Ohler's Northwest Corner Chatter has been highly successful since before he was elected in keeping about 5,000 people connected. 

Brian Ohler also has been extensively involved in local concerns and efforts with much coverage in the press. Maybe the citizens backing Maria Horn and now representing CT, along with those who supported Brian, can find a way to echo and even increase a sense of connection with one another in a more formal networking way. It's a lot for one person to do 'the whole job' and yet empowering one another could be a shared endeavor. Ideally Brian can continue in that way as much as possible. Hopefully that can continue or be replicated by Maria Horn should his focus shift to other matters.

Thank you for your hard work and steadfast efforts in many fields, Brian! Good luck to Maria as she steps into this important new role of helping lead CT with support from her constituents. The voters have used the system in a critical way today...and so the next phase of CT's story continues. Yet we are still waiting on the final vote for Governor.

At this time, with 90 % of the votes tallied, Ned Lamont is ahead by a very small margin. Over 600,000 have voted in each of the main parties. There is a difference of a few thousand votes so maybe that's too large of a gap to see turn around...yet maybe not. Time will tell in the next few hours!

Over 50,000 have voted in the Independent parties..so clearly they are a key piece of the puzzle and hopefully are content with the outcome...or should give more thought to how their votes affect the two main candidates in future runs.

All the best and here's to democracy and high fives to all who were able to vote and did so. Learning how a candidate has voted (whether primarily with their party or more in sync with what constituents wanted or backing stated initiatives versus not quite doing so is important in assessing who one wants to vote for in upcoming elections. Ideally there would be groups assessing people regularly with updates and ways to track efforts, outside of the offices of the leaders. Hopefully everyone can work together with a neighborly attitude and understanding that life is a team sport. We can all find ways to understand where others are coming from with concerns and requests.

Helping one another with basics such as the NY State Article 17 provides would be something more states would pursue. As we hear about people being turned away at the border of the US from Mexico, let's realize many feel driven out of their home state or one they have lived in for a long time. There are many ways our entire nation could voluntarily shift toward preventing problems of imbalance and lack of knowledge about health care, self-care and many other areas socially, legally and economically.

The more everyone feels empowered from their heart in balance with learning and taking positive action steps, the easier figuring out better options locally, state-wide and nationally and even beyond will be. We have each have one state and country affecting much of our lives, yet one world which needs our talents and compassion as well. Let's find ways to all be leaders and encourage one another to keep 'voting for a better world' for one and all. Thanks for your efforts in life and on voting day. More to come...
